| 内容記述 | After the WWⅡ, the total restructuring of Japanese higher educational system took place taken initiative by General Headquarters, Allied Powers (GHQ). American style academic traditions were brought about, cultural anthropology being the vanguard of them, which overcame the pre-existing ethnological school. In this paper, it is discussed about the interrelationship between two leading cultural anthropologists, R.Benedict and J.Embree. Benedict initiated cultural anthropological methodology in the comparative study of Japanese society contrasting with American society. Based on her standpoint, Embree made a new contribution in Japanese studies contrasting it with Thai society. This paper examines the change of academic interests in cultural anthropology through 1940s to 1970s, referring ʻCulture and Personalityʼ and Areas Studies. | |||||
